Surfside Sports will have a huge “skate jam” at its store from 8 a.m.

to 7 p.m. Saturday. Aside from watching skate demonstrations and

collecting autographs from skateboarding pros, participants can also get

big bargains on shoes. Top skateboarding shoe companies -- including

Etnies, Es, Emerica, Circa and Globe -- will bring in hundreds of new

shoes to sell for $40 or less. The shoes normally cost up to $90. A

street-style course will be set up in the parking lot for skate

demonstrations that will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be a

free raffle to win all kinds of skate goods, from clothing to skate

Foot Solutions is a new store in the Costa Mesa Courtyards that

specializes in foot care and comfort. The store’s staff works with

customers to find solutions to their foot problems. They are trained to

help people with minor foot problems, such as uncomfortable dress shoes,

sports-related foot problems, and chronic pain from diabetes or

arthritis. There’s a state-of-the-art computer foot digitizer that’s used

to scan the foot so Foot Solutions can make custom insoles. The

selections of shoes are designed to fit properly and to prevent future

A new wine specialty shop called Overstreet’s Wine Merchant opened in

the Lido Marina Village in Newport Beach. It’s having a grand opening

One of the top-rated restaurants in Newport Beach, Aubergine, is

offering a summer a la carte menu to be served only in its newly

remodeled patio. The new a la carte menu will be available Tuesday

through Friday. Until now, Aubergine has offered only prix fixe dinners.

The menu prices are appetizers for $14; entrees are fish for $18 and meat
