Pregnant woman OK after crash in Newport

A pregnant woman driving a light-blue sedan crashed into a ditch near

Fashion Island on Wednesday morning after feeling ill, police said.

Tracy Fox, who lives in Irvine, was traveling southbound on Avocado

Avenue when the accident occurred. The 35-year Fox had turned left onto

Avocado from San Miguel Drive and lost control of the vehicle.

Fox drove her 2001 Dodge into the ditch at the edge of the road about

9:30 a.m., Lt. John Klein said.

She was taken to Hoag Hospital as a precautionary measure but was not

injured in the wreck, Klein said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
