Sisters Katie and Tracy Lindquist split their four matches at last

weekend’s Hermosa Beach Open, the second stop on the Assn. of Volleyball

Professionals’ 2002 tour.

The Lindquists, who starred at Ocean View High, had a jampacked

Saturday on the sand, as all four of their matches took place on that

day.

They began the tournament with a three game loss to the team of Ashley

Bowles/Liz Masakayan, 21-19, 14-21, 5-15 in a first round winner’s

bracket match.

That loss sent the Lindquists to the loser’s bracket, where they went

on to win their next two matches.

First, they defeated the team of Pat Keller/Marla O’Hara, 21-23,

21-14, 15-12. Keller/O’Hara were coming off a two-game loss to the

women’s top-seed team of Holly McPeak and Elaine Youngs.

McPeak and Youngs went on to win the women’s tournament. It was the

duo’s second win on the current tour, the first of which came at the

Huntington Beach Open during Memorial Day weekend.

The Lindquists followed the win over Keller/O’Hara with a 14-21,

21-16, 15-10 win over the team of Kerri Eich/Kristen Schritter.

In the third round of loser’s bracket play, they were eliminated by

Danalee Bragado/Rachel Wacholder, 21-14, 21-10.

Tracy Lindquist was one of the tournament’s leaders in the aces

department with seven, which tied her with Nancy Mason for third among

female players.
