District 62 event begins Monday
It’s mid-June on the calendar, and that means that it’s time for the
annual District 62 Little League Tournament of Champions.
The 10-day, single elimination tournament will begin Monday at two
sites.
The Area 1 competition will be hosted by Fountain Valley Little League
and played at Mile Square Park.
Area 2 play will be hosted by Costa Mesa American Little League.
“We’re looking forward to another great tournament,” said Mark Groh of
the District 62 office. “We have great play every year, and great crowds
come out for the games.”
District 62 is comprised of eight local Little Leagues: Huntington
Valley, Ocean View, Robinwood and Seaview from Huntington Beach, Fountain
Valley, Westminster and Costa Mesa American and National.
Each of the eight leagues will send their top two teams from each
division -- Majors, Minor A and Minor B -- to the tournament.
The Senior Minor Division tournament will be held at Robinwood Little
League. The top two teams from the following leagues will compete for the
title: Huntington Valley, Robinwood, Fountain Valley and Westminster.
First round games will begin Monday at 5 p.m. and continue through
Thursday. Area semifinal play will take place on June 24.
