El Morro Elementary School

The Quest for Excellence Committee will host Lorraine Johnson-Coleman,

a nationally respected speaker and consultant in the areas of diversity,

heritage preservation and community building. The talk will take place at

SATURDAY

Crystal Cove State Park

Park staff will host a volunteer training day that will discuss the

history and flora and fauna of Crystal Cove as well as the state policy

about volunteers. The training will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,

June 22. The day will conclude with a tour of the cottages on June 22 at

the Los Trancos Trailer off the Los Tranco’s intersection from Pacific

Coast Highway. Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes.

Laguna Radio Amateurs

Amateur radio operators in Laguna will participate in their fourth

annual Field Day, a nationwide event sponsored by the American Radio

Relay League. The Laguna Beach Emergency Communications Team will set-up

and operate an entirely solar powered radio station on the fire road

between Top of the World and Moulton Meadows Park. The public is welcome

to visit the station and send messages to friends and loved ones across

the United States. The event will begin at 11 a.m., June 22 and June 23.

The Sierra Sage Club will be available to give samples on tips for

Laguna Yoga

The studio will present a workshop titled, “The History, Wisdom and

YMCA

The YMCA Run in the Park will offer 5K and 10K walk/run events,

children’s races and a pancake breakfast. The 10K run will start at 7

a.m., 5K at 8:40 a.m. and children’s run at 10 a.m. through the Laguna

Niguel Regional Park. The cost is $20 for the 5K and 10K and $12 for the

children’s race. An additional $3 will be added after June 21.
