“Insomnia,” a film by Christopher Nolan, stars Al Pacino, Robin

Williams and Hillary Swank. It is a police story and psychological

thriller that is entertaining and well made.

Pacino plays a talented and highly respected detective from Los

Angeles whose reputation and job may be ruined by exposure of a past

illegal professional lapse.

The internal struggle of Pacino and the cat and mouse interactions and

maneuverings between the detective and the other characters is well-done,

and well paced with very interesting action sequences. The story line was

excellent and well written.

The acting for all three main characters is also very good. Pacino, as

usual, is tops. It’s just fun to watch him work. Williams does a very

credible job as the murderer who is a local writer. Swank is good in a

less demanding role.

The cinematography is superb with beautiful vistas of Alaska and an

amazing chase over floating logs.

All in all, this is a very good action flick, worth your time.
