SCR expansion on schedule

South Coast Repertory officials announced on Thursday, the 100th day

until the opening dedication of the new Folino Theatre Center, that

construction for its expansion project is on schedule.

The expansion, which is supported by a $50-million fund-raising

campaign, includes the building of the 336-seat Julianne Argyros Stage,

the renovation and renaming of the 507-seat Mainstage to become the

Segerstrom Stage, the renaming and expansion of the current Second Stage

into a new Nicholas Studio, and a complex of offices and classrooms

within these buildings.

A “Light the Night” gala ball will be held Oct. 5, which also launches

the theater’s series of openings called “SCR: Re/Dedication 2002” running

Oct. 5 through Nov. 10.
