Gil Thibault and Larry Pendleton of Laguna Beach will raise funds for

the Boys and Girls Club with an attempt to summit Mt. Shasta on July 13

and 14. The money will go toward a new facility for the club. Mt. Shasta

is more than 14,000 feet and usually covered with snow at the peak.

Thibault and Pendleton are planning to take two days to summit. To make a

Karl Schuler won the Top Banana Award as well as Best Hot Rod Coupe with

his 1941 Willy’s Coupe during the third annual Top Banana Classic Car

Show on June 23 at the Orange County Market Place. . . . Marine Corps

Pvt. Tyler Woodhouse and Marine Corps Pvt. David McKenzie recently

completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. They

completed 12 weeks of training and received instruction in honor, courage

and commitment. Woodhouse is the son of Violet Woodhouse of Laguna Beach

and Lawrence Woodhouse of Corona Del Mar. McKenzie is the son of Susan

and Patrick McKenzie of Laguna Beach. Both are 2001 graduates of Laguna

Beach High School.
