CdM boys water polo’s rampage brought to a halt by East Servite

The Corona del Mar boys water polo club team blitzed through the

Villa Park Tournament, outscoring their opponents by 40 goals in a

four-game winning streak to reach the final, before losing to East

Servite, 8-7.

CdM led, 7-5, after three quarters but East Servite scored three

fourth-period goals, including two four-meter penalty shots, for the

win.

CdM’s Artie Dorr and John Mann (two goals each), as well as Jason

DiRocco, Ali Kattan and Griffin Gentry (one goal apiece), provided

the scoring as goalie Beau Stockstill made 15 saves.

The trio of Dorr, Mann and DiRocco netted 53 combined goals in a

five-game stretch leading up to and including the championship game.

Mann led all scorers during this time with 23 goals, followed by Dorr

with 19 and DiRocco with 11.

CdM’s most dominant win came against Simi, a 22-4 triumph that

featured 11 goals by Mann. Ryan Moore and David DiRocco added two

goals each.

CdM also had wins over Riverside, 15-7, and Rose Bowl, 15-5. In

the Riverside win, John Money scored twice while Kevin Amendt, Ryan

Moore and Ali Kattan each added a goal.

Tyler Brundage made even saves in the win over Rose Bowl.

In a Tustin League game Wednesday, CdM cruised to a 10-2 victory

over Cougar club. Dorr led CdM with three goals, while David DiRocco

and Money scored two goals each. Jason DiRocco and Amendt added one

goal apiece.
