What happened:

Placement of sewer service and residential refuse fees as special

assessments of the county tax roll.

What it means:

The city will place fees on the county tax roll for residents to

pay as part of their property taxes.

What happened:

The Parking, Traffic and Circulation Committee proposed to

reinstall a centerline stripe and eliminate a “slow” legend on

Eleanor Lane and relocate a bus stop on South Coast Highway near

Sunset Terrace.

What it means:

The striping is not yet scheduled but the city expects it will be

complete within the next two weeks after the street is resurfaced.

The bus stop is scheduled to be moved by the end of August.

What happened:

The council voted to allow the expiration of the off-site parking

moratorium urgency ordinance on Aug. 15, 2002.

What it means:

The council directed staff to modify the code section so that if a

developer intensified use of a site within Downtown, they would have

to provide parking on that site. The ordinance will first have to go

through the Planning Commission before it is officially approved by

the council.

What happened:

Award a contract in the amount of $102,939 to J.C. Baldwin for the

Glenneyre Street parking structure rehabilitation.

What it means:

Construction is set to begin in mid-September. The columns

carrying the upper deck will be reinforced with new concrete and the

brick facade will be replaced with a new one. The structure will

remain open during construction although some areas will be

barricaded. City officials expect to complete the project in

mid-December. Baglin and Kinsman excused themselves from the vote

because they own property within 500 feet of the parking structure.
