Kohan to walk on at San Jose St.

After receiving a special e-mail message from Coach Fitz Hill of

San Jose State, former Newport Harbor defensive standout Scott Kohan

has decided to walk on for the Spartans.

Kohan earned All-Sea View League and All-Newport-Mesa District

honors last year as he contributed to the Sailors’ Sea View League

championship and CIF Southern Section Division VI semifinal

appearance.

“(San Jose State coaches) got a hold of a tape of our loss to La

Mirada and wrote me that I had to the ability to play Division IA,”

Kohan said. “Coach Hill then sent me a six-word e-mail, ‘We want you

in our family,’ which I thought was awesome and told me everything I

needed to know about the program.”
