FARM COMPLEX

The Planning Commission will review the process used to allocate

fields at the Farm Sports Complex and decide whether to tweak the

complex permits to allow for more use than originally intended.

Recreation Department officials had asked that the commission

review the practices, which were questioned by some soccer parents,

to ensure they were in line with the original conditions imposed by

the City Council when the facility opened.

Earlier this month, planning commissioners postponed a decision

about common field scheduling practices in regard to the Farm Sports

Complex at the request of some concerned parents.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This issue has been a heated one, given the scarcity of field

space in the city. Expect a number of soccer moms and dads to speak

out about the need for more field time at the complex. Recreation

officials are also expected to push for the most generous field use.

SMALL LOT DEVELOPMENT

An Eastside property owner is asking the city to deviate from its

conventional development requirements to split a very large lot into

five small parcels.

The owner of 258 Santa Isabella also wants to rezone the property,

which is surrounded mostly by single family homes, to a medium

density residential designation.

The city requires a minimum of 5,000 square feet for small lot

divisions. The owner is proposing parcels as small as 3,410 square

feet.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Planning commissioners are expected to deny the project.

AMBULANCE SERVICE

Planning commissioners will review a request for an ambulance

service and dispatch station on Enterprise Street.

Tom Bell, the owner of 3007 Enterprise Street, will ask the

commission to approve the business, which would allow for parking and

repair of vehicles and the sleeping quarters of crew members.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Planning staff has recommended approval of the project.
