Here are some of the decisions coming out of the Costa Mesa

Planning Commission meeting Monday.

FARM SPORTS COMPLEX

The Planning Commission decided again to postpone any decision on

the field allocation policy at the popular soccer complex, saying

that not all those who wished to participate in the debate were

present.

Recreation Department officials had asked that the commission

review the practices, which were questioned by some soccer parents,

to ensure they were in line with the original conditions imposed by

the City Council when the facility opened.

WHAT IT MEANS:

The issue will come back before the Planning Commission on Aug.

12.

AMBULANCE SERVICE

Planning commissioners unanimously approved a request for an

ambulance service and dispatch station on Enterprise Street.

Tom Bell, the owner of property at 3007 Enterprise St., asked the

commission to approve the business, which would allow for parking and

repair of vehicles and the sleeping quarters of crew members.

Planning officials concurred that the new business would not greatly

affect the surrounding residents.

WHAT IT MEANS:

Bell will move his ambulance business to Enterprise Street.

ARTIST LOFT

Planning commissioners postponed a Westside property owner’s

request to forgo a potential parking space to build a pool and a

two-story garage that includes a recreation room and an artist loft

upstairs.

Kirk Norton, the owner of 439 Flower St., initially spoke with

planning staff about the various additions to his property and was

asked to submit alternative designs.

WHAT IT MEANS:

The proposed project will come back before the Planning Commission

on Aug. 12.
