Soccer camps coming to town

AYSO Region 117 of Huntington Beach is proud to announce that

Major League Soccer Camps will be offered July 29 through Aug. 2.

Fully trained and licensed Major League Soccer Camps coaches will

be at the camps to provide instruction to youngsters. Camp programs

are available for players ages 4 to 6 at a cost of $58 per camper,

and ages 7 to 18, at a cost of $99.

Each camper will receive an individual player evaluation, a Major

League Soccer gift, soccer ball, T-shirt and a free companion ticket

to an upcoming Major League Soccer match.

Parents and local coaches also may attend a free coaching clinic

held during the week of camp instruction.

The camps are part of Major League Soccer’s 2002 Summer of Rising

Stars program designated to teach youngsters the moves and techniques

used by Major League Soccer’s own rising young talent. A team of

international coaches who are fully trained in the age-specific needs

of young soccer players and experts in soccer skills and techniques

will share their expertise.

Major League Soccer camps is the official camp of Major League

Soccer and the American Youth Soccer Organization.

Summer defensive camps offered

A unique baseball camp experience for youngsters ages 9 to 14 is

being offered through Sluggers Professional Baseball Instruction of

Huntington Beach.

The summer defensive camps are designated to help players receive

specific instruction at the positions they play. Campers will enjoy

two, two-hour intensive training days and a personal evaluation at

the end of each camp.

Camp instruction includes the following: middle infield; corner

infield; catching; outfield; situational hitting and base running.

Cost for these camps is $75. Camps run weekly on Mondays and

Wednesdays, and Tuesday and Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to
