Laguna Beach High School students Breyon Lauher, Jennifer Haley

and Ashley Burson each received $1,000 scholarships for outstanding

achievements in public service by the Laguna Beach Rotary Club.

Rotary past President Alex Alpert presented the students the awards

for their outstanding achievement in improved academic performance

and exhibiting “Service above Self,” which is one of the themes of

Rotary International ... Laguna artist Ileana Frometa Grillo was

selected as a finalist at the Macworld Conference and Expo. Her

print, “La Paz” will go on tour across the country as part of the

Digital Art Gallery ... Laguna Beach resident Cara Stewart was one of

seven people elected to the Orange County chapter of the Juvenile

Diabetes Research Foundation International’s board of directors.

There are a total of 26 directors. The board of directors is charged

with expanding the JDRF brand throughout Orange County, raising funds

in support of financial goals, leading advocacy efforts and providing

guidance to overall chapter operations.
