Yoko Ikeda of Japan, currently residing in Huntington Beach, and

attending Cal. State Long Beach, received a $500 scholarship from The

International Community Council for her volunteer activities.... Navy

Petty Officer 2nd Class Steve T. Matsui, son of Takako K. and Takeshi

E. Matsui of Huntington Beach, recently returned from a six-month

deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to

the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis, home ported in San Diego.

Matsui is a 1998 graduate of Edison High School.... Matthew L.

Hencke, son of William J. and Holly A. Hencke of Huntington Beach,

has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force

after graduating from Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force

Base, Montgomery, Ala. Hencke is a 1994 graduate of Ocean View High

University’s 25th Anniversary Youth Citizenship Seminar. The 250 high

school students in attendance excel academically, with the majority

Huntington Beach, recently completed the Navy Nuclear Power Training

Unit course at Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y.
