Becker Surf & Skate opened a new store in March at Seacliff

Village in Huntington Beach. The surf and skateboard shop has other

locations in Malibu, Mission Viejo, Hermosa Beach and Corona del Mar.

It has the latest in surf apparel brands for men, women and children

including Split, O’Neill, Volcom, Spitfire, Stussy, Hurley, Roxy,

Hawk Skateboarding, Billabong and Circa. It also carries eyewear from

Utopia, Optics, Smith and Flea; and shoes from DC Shoe, DVS Shoe Co.

and Reef. Its biggest seller, not surprisingly, are its custom,

hand-shaped boards by Phil Becker and Matt Calvani. Don’t forget the

upcoming sale Aug. 8 through 12; everything is reduced 23%, excluding

surfboards. The annual 23% off sale is a 10-year tradition at Becker.

If the shoe fits

Just around the corner from Becker, there’s Anthony’s Shoe Repair,

one of the best local shoe repair shops, that’s been in Orange County

for more than 50 years. It offers unlimited services including

repairs on shoes, handbags and luggage; dyes, cleaning, belts

shortened, shoe stretching, athletic shoes and orthopedic shoes. Its

leather restoration services include cleaning and conditioning of car

seats, chairs, sofas, desks, handbags, briefcases and leather and

suede garments. Anthony’s also sells Italian ladies shoes from Pierre

Dumas, Aldo Rossini and Bruno Valenti that are marked down 20% to

50%. If you have shoe comfort problems there’s a big selection of

Spenco medical support aid products such as orthotics, arch cushions

Perfect for pets

Pet Supply is one of the newest Seacliff Village merchants. It

opened in early July. It’s an independently owned pet supply shop,

with one other location in Fountain Valley. It has everything you

need for birds, fish, dogs and cats -- pet carriers, toys, leashes

and training treats, and it has an extensive supply of high quality

dog and cat foods. It stocks the new Old Mother Hubbard brand of dog

food made with no artificial colors or flavors. It’s made from human

grade chicken, lamb, liver and beef; and fresh fruits, vegetables,

eggs and cheese. Other dog and cat food brands are Eukanuba,

California Natural, Natural Choice and Nutro Max. When distributors

offer sales to Pet Supply they pass the savings on to their

customers. The current sale is on Nutro Max dog food at $17.99 a bag,

it was $24.99, and Nutro Max adult cat food at $19.99 a bag, and it
