St. Michael and All Angels will have some Hi Hopes

Hi Hopes will be the final group scheduled to perform in St.

Michael and All Angels Church’s free musical entertainment series on

Aug. 14.

The Anaheim-based group is made up of members with developmental

disabilities and exceptional musical abilities. Some are musical

savants. Many play multiple instruments. Their program includes more

than 300 songs, which they perform from memory. The group has

performed at the Orange County Fair, on television, at churches,

schools and around the country.

The musicians practice at Hope University, which was founded 23

years ago and offers an art curriculum catered to adults with

developmental disabilities.

St. Michael is at 3233 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar. The

performance is free and runs from noon to 1 p.m.

Weiss takes Folino’s place on SCR board of directors

A new officer and new trustees were recently elected for South

Coast Repertory during the last meeting of the 2001-02 season.

Timothy Weiss was elected the 44-member board of trustees’

president, taking Paul Folino’s place, and the six new trustees are

William “Denny” Campbell, Sadie Finnegan, Cynthia Harris, Jim Jaeger,

Roger Palley and Nola Schneer.

Folino, who has completed two terms as president of SCR, will

continue serving on the board’s executive committee as chairman of

the Next Stage Campaign.
