Rules for private yards go too far
In Costa Mesa, we enjoy a hobbyist, outdoor, do-it-yourself-kind
of lifestyle. As you know, I’ve been involved in the RV issue and
several others, getting involved in the City Council race as a
campaign manager, and also I agree with Mitch Barrie that Costa Mesa
is sort of surrounded by Orange County and we do have a unique
character here that many, many people feel is being lost because of
over-regulation (“Residents uniting against City Hall,whileJuly 25).
I’ve talked to many people that moved here to avoid just what they
consider over-regulation of their personal lives. We’ve enjoyed
almost 50 years here in Costa Mesa without these rules, and it’s
spawned some great people in many industries because of the relaxed
lifestyle here, and many people, including myself, feel that’s being
lost and it’s really a shame. We’re one of the last cities with any
character left around, and I think most people would like to retain
that.
