Tommy Harold

Tommy Harold, a long-time Laguna Beach resident, died on July 19

in his Palm Springs home from complications of AIDS.

He will be missed by his many loving friends and his clients at

Tommy Harold’s Precision Hair Cutting, his shop on Coast Highway at

Thalia Street.

In lieu of flowers or donations, Harold asked that “When you see a

hungry person you give them a sandwich, and make it a nice sandwich.”

Johnny C.D. Stockdale

Johnny C.D. Stockdale left us on Aug. 3. He was 64. He suffered

from Creutzfeldt - Jacobs Disease. Stockdale was a renowned chef and

owner of the Late Place Restaurant in South Laguna. He was a Laguna

resident for 27 years.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Ann. He is survived

by her husband, John Farrell, and her sons John and David. Services

are pending. The remains are to be buried at sea.

William (Bill) Tolle

William (Bill) Tolle, 85, of Laguna Beach, died at home on July

23.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth; daughters Susan

McClure of Laguna Beach and Melissa Manning of Grass Valley;

sons-in-law Joe McClure and Denis Manning; brother Allen Tolle of

Lancaster; three grandchildren, Peggy and Wendy McClure and Eric

Manning.

Tolle attended UC Berkeley, studying landscape design, before

joining the Merchant Marines during WWII. He became the first

Purser-Pharmacists Mate and traveled to many countries.

After the war he worked at Berkeley Hort. Nursery. In 1953 he

moved his family to Laguna Beach where he owned the Garden Shack

Nursery. He was later co-owner of Moore Hardware.

After retiring he worked at DeNault’s Hardware in Laguna Niguel.

He lived a full, happy life and family and friends will miss his

cheer and love.

His ashes will be buried at sea.
