Two more vie for school seats

School district residents will have a few more trustee options on
their ballot in November.
Two additional candidates -- one incumbent and one hopeful --
tossed their names into the election ring on Friday.
Trustee Wendy Leece has declared her intent to run again, and
Edward Loyd, who describes himself as an “international businessman,”
will compete against Ron Winship and Serene Stokes for Stokes’ seat.
Three of the four trustees up for reelection -- Stokes, Leece and
the board’s current president, Judy Franco -- are running again.
Trustee Jim Ferryman is not.
Ferryman said he had been thinking about resigning six months
before being convicted of driving under the influence after a car
accident in September.
Neither Leece nor Loyd was available for comment.
Tom Egan, whose wife, Eleanor, serves as a Costa Mesa planning
commissioner, will run against Leece, while Shelby Cove will
challenge Franco.
Although Friday was the filing deadline, candidates running for
Ferryman’s seat have five more business days to file because he is an
incumbent, according to the county Registration and Elections
Department. So far, only Linda Sneen has filed for his seat.
