NO SQUARE THEATRE

The theatre presents “Bugsy Malone.” A cast of 54 youngsters play

Prohibition-era mobsters in this tongue-in-cheek tribute to the 1920s

gangster flick. This pie-flinging, pinstripe-wearing saga culminates

with a nonviolent gang war where flying pies take the place of

bullets. The musical will play at 7 p.m. Aug. 16 and 2 p.m. Aug. 17

and 18 at Laguna Beach High School Artists’ Theatre, 625 Park Ave.

FESTIVAL OF ARTS

The Festival of Arts will have an Asian Arts day. The Festival

LIVE PAINTING EXHIBITION

Wyland Galleries will host four American artists in a live

painting exhibition. The artists will discuss their work and

VILLAGE GALLERY

World-renowned artist Vadik Suljakov will make a personal

SPINNING TALES

The Laguna Art Museum will host “Talk Story” with surfers and

artists as part of its Real Life in the Coastal Zone: Surf Culture

Lecture Series. Guests include Renny Yater, Sally Yater, Dale Velzy,

Y formerly known as Tom Morey, Kenny Price, Billy Al Bengston,

Jericho Poppler and others will spin tales about the rides of their

THE ESTHER WELLS COLLECTION

The gallery will celebrate a new exhibit of work by impressionist

No Square Theater will hold a class on vocal audition for the

SURF CINEMA

Laguna Art Museum, in association with Poor Specimen and

Steelehouse Distribution, will present “Shelter and Fifth Symphony

Document” as part of its contemporary surf film series. “Shelter”

features Rob Machado and Shane Dorian along with Joel Tudor, Nat

Young, Mick Fanning, and Malia Jones. “Fifth Symphony Document” takes

us on a soulful journey around the world in a rediscovery of the

wandering spirit of surf filmmaking, featuring Shane Dorian, Ben

Brough, Conan Hayes, Mikala Jones, Greg Browning, and Kelly Slater.

Directors Andy Carlson and Chad Campbell, who will make a live

Art-A-Fair

The Art-A-Fair Festival is a community of nearly 130 artists who

have competed to be a part of the juried competition. The festival

will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from

10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Saturday through Sept. 1.

Art-a-Fair is at 777 Laguna Canyon Road. $5 for adults, $3 for

seniors, and Auto Club members and children 12 and younger are free

The Festival of Arts

Since 1932, the Festival of Arts has become world-renowned for its

juried fine art exhibition and the Pageant of the Masters. Free tours

are led by Festival artists at 2 and 4 p.m., daily. The festival will
