In search of the Bitsy Grant Cup

The United States will compete in this year’s Bitsy Grant Cup

international tennis tournament in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria Sept.

9-14, and among the three-man team is Newport Beach’s Vincent Fotre,

a 1945 graduate of UCLA.

The Bitsy Grant Cup is for men age 75 and older, and is sponsored

by the International Tennis Federation.

The U.S. team, which includes Graydon Nichols of Hanford, Bill

Tully of New Rochelle, N.Y., and non-playing captain Ben T. Ball,

will compete against 14 countries, including the host and defending

champion Austrians.

Fotre’s credentials include the singles championship at the 2000

ITF World Championships, and the 2001 men’s hardcourt doubles crown.
