County gay march should not exist

I am absolutely outraged with the Daily Pilot editorial “City

reached good compromise over gay pride march” (Aug. 8). I am equally

irritated that our Costa Mesa City Council is allowing a lesbian

parade through streets frequented by young, questioning children.

For the Daily Pilot to promote the event and then have the gall to

suggest residents proudly support it clearly demonstrates a mentality

that is not shared by the majority of its readers.

I have no problem with people who live a different lifestyle from

my own. That is their choice. However, I do resent their “in your

face” agenda to promote it through our public streets.

After reading the Daily Pilot editorial “City reached good

compromise over gay pride march,” I couldn’t help but wonder why the

paper has asked me to “fully and proudly support it.” Fully support a

parade of lesbians marching down the street? Why should I?

With so many necessary things to do, whether in one’s own home and

family or reaching out to neighbors who need a hand, why would anyone

waste their precious time supporting a group whose stated goal is to

broadcast their sexual preference?

Call me old fashioned, but I believe bedroom activities are

private matters. Lesbians parading and promoting their lifestyle

through city streets is not an activity I plan to support.
