Man injured in drive-by shooting

A Huntington Beach man was injured in a drive-by shooting early

Friday morning at the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Ellis

Avenue.

Jesse Fortney, 22, was shot in the arm when two men in a silver

American-made sedan pulled up next to him at the stoplight and fired

off three shots, said Huntington Beach Police Sgt. Gary Meza.

The passenger of the silver sedan pointed a small caliber handgun

at Fortney and fired before leaving the scene, and heading northbound

on Goldenwest Street.

Fortney drove himself home and a friend then took him to

Huntington Beach Hospital where he was treated and released, Meza

said.

According to police, Fortney was not involved in any type of

altercation before the shooting and he hadn’t exchanged words with

his attackers.

Police do not believe that this is a gang-related incident, Meza

said.

Fortney could only provide police with a description of the man

who fired the gun, saying that he is a white male, about 25 years old

with a medium build. He was wearing a dark baseball cap with some

type of logo.

Police are asking for the public’s help in trying to find the men

who shot Fortney. Anyone with information regarding the shooting
