Green Day singer injured at Blackie’s

The lead singer/songwriter of Green Day did not have the time of

his life while surfing in Newport Beach on Friday.

Billie Jo Armstrong was at Blackie’s about 8:45 a.m. when he cut

his head on his surfboard, rescuers said. He was treated by

lifeguards.

Costa Mesa police report molestation

An act of child molestation was reported in Costa Mesa on Thursday

afternoon. The victim is 13. The suspected molester is acquainted

with the victim and therefore does not pose a significant risk to the

public, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Don Holford said. The case is under

investigation, Holford said.

Hit-and-run victim still in the hospital

The victim of a Sunday hit-and-run collision is still in the

hospital while the Costa Mesa Police Department continues its

investigation. Ancieto Rodriguez, 73, suffered a broken shoulder,

broken kneecap, rug burns and had to get stitches on his eye and

chin, said his granddaughter Violeta Rodriguez. He is at Western

Medical Center.

“He’s very depressed that they haven’t found [the driver] yet,”

she said.
