Huntington Beach resident Brian Foster earned a pair of first

place finishes at the recent X Games VIII held in Philadelphia.

Foster, appearing in his sixth X Games, finished in seventh place

in both the BMX Park and BMX Dirt competitions.

Foster garnered an even 88 points in the BMX Park event and was

just five points behind winner Ryan Nyquist.

He was a mere three points from finishing in first place in the

BMX Dirt race as he finished with 87.93 points. Allan Cooke took the

top spot with 90.47 points.

His seventh place showing in the BMX Dirt race was an improvement

of 11 spots from the 2001 summer X Games, when Foster finished in

18th place overall.

He also finished second in last year’s Downhill BMX competition.

Foster’s only first place finish came in the dirt event in the

1998 summer games.

The X Games showcased 300 of the world’s best action sports

athletes in a variety of sports competitions, with each vying for

medals and a share of more than $1 million in total prize money.

ABC Sports, ESPN and ESPN 2 combined to televise X Games VIII.
