Red Lazers manage to slow down Stars

Anthony Genovese came up with 17 saves, and Kyle Hayashida

provided much of the offense last weekend as the Red Lazers topped

the Stars, 4-1, in a Campbell Division contest.

The only goal Genovese yielded to the Stars came when Michael

Thomas scored off a Ryan Humphrey assist in the second period.

The Red Lazers jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead with

Hayashida scoring both goals, the second coming on a Kevin Romano

feed.

Hayashida scored his third goal of the match in the second period,

and Nathaniel Hughes added an unassisted goal later in the period to

push the Red Lazers to a 4-1 advantage.

The Stars’ Zachary Beko finished with 22 saves.

In other games:

Red Wings 5, Pythons 1

The Red Wings went on the defensive, and Avi Press nearly had a

shutout in the process in beating the Pythons.

Press finished the match with 18 saves and didn’t yield a goal

until the final period.

Max Olin topped the Red Wings on offense with two goals and an

assist.

Other goals went to Jared Novakovich, Lauren Kilroy and Nicole

Marsey.

Ian Arnold came up with 20 saves for the Pythons.

Blitz 7, Thunderbirds 2

Jason Callanan, Hamilton Bretherton and Ali Wing each scored twice

to lift the Blitz past the Thunderbirds.

Kevin Kurz collected the other Blitz goal.

Bretherton also led the Blitz with a pair of assists, and David

Abady finished with one.

Nathan Wing recorded 15 saves.

Ryan Schlerf scored for the Thunderbirds, and Jacob Trani had 23

saves.

Grommets 5, Phantoms 2

Christian Weber scored his team’s first three goals and Brice

Rivera netted the final two, and the Grommets broke away from a tie

at 2 by outscoring the Phantoms, 3-0, in the final period.

Noah Johnson picked up a pair of assists, and Kyle Finney and

Tanner Chang each had one.

In addition to shutting down the Phantoms in the final period,

Dane Chavez had 19 saves overall.

Alex Cook scored both Phantoms goals, and Zack McDaniel had an

assist.

Dillon Mihalik finished with 21 saves.
