UCI women win, 2-0

FULLERTON -- Robyn Piotrowski scored twice to lead the UC Irvine

women’s soccer team a 2-0, season-opening win over Eastern Washington

in the Soccer Town Classic at Titan Stadium in Fullerton Saturday.

Piotrowski scored from 25 yards out to give the Anteaters a 1-0

lead in the 19th minute. Then she added another unassisted goal

before halftime (38th minute) after Eastern Washington’s goalie

missed a kick to clear from the top of the box.

Overall, Coach Marine Cano’s Anteaters outshot the Eagles, 21-9.

Sarah Swancutt recorded two saves for UCI, which hosts Montana Friday

night at 8 at Anteater Stadium in the UCI/Nike Holiday Invitational.
