Pirates edged
SAN DIEGO -- Dante Zena headed in a cross from Miguel Ochoa to
pull the Orange Coast College men’s soccer team even, 1-1, in the
83rd minute of a nonconference game Wednesday at San Diego Mesa. But
the Olympians scored five minutes later to claim a 2-1 victory.
Hilario Arriaga made four saves for OCC, as the two teams were
scoreless until the hosts took a lead in the 58th minute.
The winning goal came on a rebound that was not cleared in front
of the OCC goal. Coach Laird Hayes said it was a wide-open shot for
the Olympians.
Orange Coast falls to 1-2, while Mesa is now 1-0.
The Pirates return to action Friday at 4 p.m. at home against El
Camino
