August 28 * South Coast Highway:...

August 28

* South Coast Highway: A store owner reported that a young man

stole a copy of Maxim Magazine in the 100 block at 5:49 p.m. Police

located the suspect and the magazine was returned. The owner did not

want to press charges.

* Diamond Street: Police responded to an accident in the 200

block at 11:43 p.m. The driver, a 39-year-old Azusa woman, rear-ended

a parked car. She was arrested for driving under the influence and

was released on her own recognizance.

August 29

* Ocean Way: A man reported that he had been attacked with a

knife in the 200 block at 1:57 a.m. The victim heard a commotion and

saw another man holding a knife to a woman’s throat. He ran to help

her and fought with the suspect. The victim received a cut to his

finger. Police located the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of

assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and

for two outstanding Central Court warrants. The 21-year old Laguna

Woods man was transported to Orange County Jail in lieu of $57,000

bail. The alleged female victim was not located or identified and the

victim took himself to South Coast Medical Center for treatment.

* Van Dyke Drive: A resident called police after leaving his

briefcase and computer outside his home in the 900 block at 9:17 a.m.

An officer found it and brought it into the station for safe keeping.

* North Stonington Road: A resident reported that a mean dog was

on the loose and not letting kids cross the street at 7:36 p.m. An

officer chased the dog into its home.

* Bluebird Beach: A 23-year old Laguna man was arrested on

suspicion of possessing marijuana when a beach patrol officer came

upon the suspect attempting to hide something at 9:56 p.m.

August 30

* Forest Way: A 43-year old man was arrested on suspicion of

driving under the influence and his passenger, a 33-year-old woman,

was arrested for interfering with an arrest in the 200 block at 2:03

a.m. They were stopped after an officer saw them driving the wrong

way down the street. The suspects were booked and released on their

own recognizance.

* Table Rock Beach: Officers were called to break up a fight

possibly involving nine people at 2:42 a.m. There wasn’t a fight in

progress, however the individuals were escorted off the beach and a

20-year old Placentia man was cited for possession of marijuana.

* Third Street/Mermaid Street: A big rig broke down going up the

hill at 8:03 a.m. It was towed at about 9 a.m.

* St. Ann’s Beach: A 42-year-old Costa Mesa man was cited for

disobeying a lifeguard when he swam into a surfing-only zone at 12:28

p.m.

* South Coast Highway: A 6-year-old was possibly stung by a

jellyfish in the 600 block at 1:46 p.m. His parents took him to the

hospital.

* Wendt Terrace: The driver of a tractor trailer lost his brakes

as he drove down Park Avenue. He attempted to slow down by turning on

to Wendt and hit several walls and signs in the 600 block at 5:47

p.m. No one was injured.

* Forest Avenue: A woman was advised against passing out business

cards under the windshields of parked cars in the 500 block at 9:23

p.m.

Saturday

* Bluebird Beach: A 27-year old Garden Grove man was arrested on

suspicion for possession of a controlled substance at 1:27 a.m. A

beach patrol officer contacted the suspect after observing him

holding a marijuana pipe.

* South Stonington Drive: A bird was reported stuck in a chimney

at 12:48 p.m.

* Bluff Drive: Three plants were reported stolen from an entry

way in the 31000 block at 1:52 p.m.

Sunday

* Crescent Bay: Illegal spear fishing was reported at 11:03 a.m.

The suspects were gone when police arrived.

* Laguna Avenue: A dog fight was reported in the 100 block at

4:20 p.m. No one was injured and the owners did not want to press

charges.

* South Coast Highway: A 21-year-old Laguna Hills man was

arrested for providing a false identity to police in the 31000 block

at 8:33 p.m.

* Cress Street: A 32-year-old Laguna transient was arrested for

public intoxication in the 300 block at 10:33 p.m. The suspect had

instigated a fight with three people. No one wanted to press charges

against.

Monday

* Cypress Drive: Police were called to an apartment building

where a woman was throwing rocks at an acquaintance’s window in the

400 block at 3:22 a.m. A 20-year-old Laguna woman was arrested on a

Harbor Court warrant for failure to appear on a controlled substance

charge. She was later cited for possession of marijuana and

transported to Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail.

* Park Avenue: A resident reported that a group of juveniles were

trying to steal a bench in the 2100 block at 7:19 p.m. When police

arrived the caller blocked their pick-up truck in the parking lot.

The young men admitted to officers that they were trying to off-load

a bench they had stolen from Calvary Church in Dana Point. The

officer had them load the bench back onto the truck and followed them

to the station where they left the bench. The church did not want to

press charges. Officials said they just wanted their bench back.

* Cozumel Street: A Laguna resident reported that her front door

was hit by a paintball on Friday in the 100 block at 9:22 p.m. An

unidentified man later put duct tape on the door when she refused to

answer his knocking. No permanent damage was made to the door.

* South Coast Highway/Ocean Avenue: A 45-year-old Laguna man was

nearly arrested when he refused to sign a citation for possessing

alcohol on the beach and for sleeping on the beach near the

intersection at 5:45 p.m. He agreed to sign the citation and was

released.

Tuesday

* North Coast Highway: Police received a call that a man was

yelling about Americans and blowing them up in the 500 block at 7:02

a.m. They arrested a 26-year-old Laguna transient who had a Santa

Monica warrant for vandalism, and he was transported to Orange County

Jail where bail was set at $1,000.

* South Coast Highway: Police received a call from a woman who

claimed she was being harassed in the 100 block at 1:05 p.m. She

became upset when the dispatcher asked if she worked in the area

because she thought they asked if she was a prostitute. She hung up

the phone. An officer went to the location and did not find the

caller.

* Cliff Drive: A resident reported that he was the victim of a

hit-and-run in the 300 block at 9:04 p.m. A dark blue, Chevy S10

truck backed into his van. Two males reportedly looked at the damage

and fled. He gave a partial license number of 5Y4 to officers.
