UC Irvine junior forward Kim Lloyd scored in the fourth minute of

overtime to allow the Anteaters to defeat St. Mary’s, 2-1, in a

consolation women’s soccer game of the UCI/Nike Invitational Sunday

at UCI.

Lloyd’s game-winner was assisted by junior defender Melody

Mangrello, who crossed the ball into the box.

UCI junior forward Hayley McNallen forced overtime, UCI’s second

overtime contest in a row, by lobbing a shot over Gaels goalkeeper

Alyson Berger and into the net to tie the game at 1-1 in the 59th

minute. Junior midfielder Caroline Kabe, whose cross set up

McNallen’s equalizer, was credited with the assist.

St. Mary’s opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, when Lucianne

Crenshaw posted an unassisted goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea McCarthy had four saves for the

Anteaters (2-1-0), while two St. Mary’s keepers collected five saves.

The Gaels fell to 1-3-0.
