United Way begins fund-raising
Orange County’s United Way kicked off its $28-million campaign for
2002 during a luncheon for its top 500 philanthropists at The Turnip
Rose in Costa Mesa today.
Last year, United Way distributed more than $850,000 to nonprofit
organizations in Costa Mesa, including the Boy Scouts, First Step
House, Girls Inc., Jewish Family Services and Youth Employment
Services. The organization also doled out more than $350,000 to
Newport Beach nonprofits such as the Arthritis Foundation and Human
Options.
United Way supports programs that develop children and youth,
promote health and wellness, increase independence and self
sufficiency and build stronger families.
