District 6 forum planned for Sept. 30

Candidates vying for Dennis O’Neil’s soon-to-be-vacated City

Council seat will face off in a forum at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 30. Laura

Bekeart Dietz, Richard Nichols and Bernie Svalstad, the three

candidates for Council District 6, will take part in the forum put on

by the Corona del Mar Residents Association.

The event will take place at the Oasis Senior Center, 800

Marguerite Ave., and is expected to be the only forum to focus

‘Annie’ auditions

to start Monday

Singers and actors are invited to an open call for an upcoming

production of “Annie.” Auditions will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and

Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The musical tells the story of an orphan, Annie, who wins over the

heart of a rich father figure while searching for her parents.

Actors auditioning for the orphan roles should be 10 to 14 years

old; leads and members of the chorus should be 18 to 50. Auditions

will be conducted by the Starlight Theatre Co. at 1125 Victoria St.,

Costa Mesa. The show will open Nov. 15 and run for two weekends.
