Pee Wee Seahawks win with ease, 36-0

With a defense that allowed only two first downs and an

opportunistic offense, the Pee Wee Seahawks (10-12-year-olds) beat

the visiting Corona Panthers, 36-0, Saturday.

Linebackers Patrick Marin-Finn, Garrett Amoroso and Woody Yokoyama

consistently tackled Corona runners for negative yards.

The offense was spearheaded by running backs Austin Raiger, Travis

Sorensen and Carlo Valdez, who all combined for four touchdowns.

Quarterback Jordan Lusk led the team to a touchdown on their first

drive as quarterback Matt Barkley threw his second TD in as many

games to cousin Robbie Boyer.

The offensive line of James McKennon, Scott Simon, Kiefer

Fairbanks, Morgan Brombal and Scott Lineback kept the Corona offense

at-bay.

The Seahawks travel to Corona Saturday to pay the Colts.

In Junior Midget (11-13-year-olds) play:

* Baldwin Hills Bruins 27, Seahawks 0

In Junior Pee Wee (9-11-year-olds) action:

* Mission Viejo Cowboys 18, Seahawks 0

In Clinic (8-10-year-olds) play:

* Seahawks 26, South Orange County Patriots 0

For the second time this season, Mark Contreras returned the

opening kickoff for a touchdown, racing 58 yards for the score, and

then added a 28-yard TD run to spark the Seahawks to victory.

Contreras also connected on a 50-yard halfback pass to Parker

Norton for a third touchdown.

Norton had a 67-yard TD that was called back due to a holding

penalty. Elizabeth Eddy scored on a fake double-reverse, going 18

yards and had a 47-yard touchdown called back due to a penalty.

The Seahawks received strong play on both sides of the ball as

Zack Porteous (interception), Blake Davis (two fumble recoveries),

Buzzy Yokoyama, Michael Taormina, Brett Klein, Xav Langton, Cody

Peters, Tyler Henry, Reed Wallace, Graham Frasier, Tyler Barbato and

Reid Johnson.

The Seahawks travel to Compton to battle the Titans Saturday.

In Junior Clinic (7- and 8-year-olds) action:

* Seahawks 6, Tri-City Steelers 6

The Seahawks scored their first touchdown of the season as Hunter

Durante burst up the middle for a 15-yard TD as the Seahawks took the

lead, and tiedthe Tri-City Steelers at Placentia.

Durante went untouched on the TD carry with blocking from Jake

Ambrose, A.J. Swies and Mario Rosales.

Newport’s defense held the Steelers to negative yardage in the

first half as Chase Favreau and Jack Kanen led the defense with

tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Jeff Carlyle and Durante made

strong tackles as well.

Tri-City tied the score in the third quarter and Newport mustered

a fourth-quarter drive, that was stopped short of the goal line as

time ran out.

Kanen and Favreau also teamed on the offensive end, taking

quarterback sweeps for more than 15 yards as Jake Hall played a

strong halfback behind the blocks of John Park, Levi Stillman and

Albert Daniel.

Kellon Truxton, Shane Everett, Colby Watson, Josh Rivera, Zach

Feinberg, Arron Crosby, Tim Kelley, Jason Wooding, Clay Chatam, Taro

Doone, Jack Harris Ryan, Shane Takabayashi and Anthony Taormina all

played strong defensively.
