Laguna Beach tops Pateadores

The Laguna Beach Soccer Club boys’ under-9 Division team had four

players get into the scoring act and Miguel Jaimes turned in a strong

performance in the net Saturday to help guide their team to a 5-3

victory over the Pateadores of Mission Viejo.

Laguna Beach gained control of the match from the outset, riding

first half goals by Paolo Noppenberger, Mark Hughes, Connaugh

McLaughlin and Wyatt Kirkland to a 4-2 lead at the intermission.

Both Pateadors first half goals were scored by their standout

forward, Zachary Agan.

Hughes contributed his second goal of the match early in the

second half to put Laguna Beach up, 5-2, but Agan countered with his

third goal as the Pateadores again cut the deficit to two goals.

Despite Agan’s hat trick, Jaimes turned back several other scoring

threats by the Pateadors.

Shawn Dillon, Logan Warren, Cole Kessler, Zack Lebon and Jack Winn

also had a big hand in Laguna Beach’s victory with solid play at both

ends of the field.

Tony Peiffer stepped in to coach Laguna Beach to the victory. A

scheduling conflict kept Andy Thomas, the team’s head coach, from

attending last Saturday’s match.

Thomas and Laguna Beach will return to the playing field on

Saturday to host the Revolution in a 3:45 p.m. match at Thurston

Middle School.
