City clerk appointed to county elections advisory committee

City Clerk Verna Rollinger has been appointed to a two-year term
on the Orange County Community Elections Advisory Committee.
“The committee will review election-related issues that affect the
county and make recommendations to the registrar of voters,”
Rollinger said.
Rollinger will serve as committee vice-president on the
recommendation of Registrar Rosalyn Lever.
One of the committee’s first duties is the review of three voting
systems, from which one will be chosen for the county.

Get-together
Anastasia’s Cafe will host an informal get-together with
Councilwoman Toni Iseman from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the cafe, 460
Ocean Ave. It is not a fund-raiser. Breakfast will be served free to
invited guests.
Forums
Monday: Village Laguna will sponsor a Candidates Forum at 7 p.m.
in the City Council Chamber, 505 Forest Ave. League of Women Voters
representatives will assist and moderate.
City Council and School Board candidates have been invited to
participate. Each candidate will give an opening statement and
respond to written questions from the audience. The public is urged
to attend.
Oct. 4: Laguna Beach Taxpayers, the Chamber of Commerce and the
Laguna Beach Woman’s Club will hold a luncheon forum for School Board
candidates at noon in the clubhouse, 286 St. Ann’s Drive.
Open to the public. Luncheon is $10 for club members, $12 for all

Oct. 7: Top of the World Neighborhood Association and Temple Hills
Community Association will sponsor a forum for City Council and
School Board candidates from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the City Council
Chamber.
Oct. 9: The Board of Realtors has invited the Board of Education
candidates to speak at the marketing meeting held at Wells Fargo
Bank. The meetings are not open to the public.
City Council candidates spoke at the Sept. 18 marketing meeting.
Oct. 14: Laguna Beach Seniors Inc. will present a City Council
Candidates Forum at the general meeting, set for 12:30 p.m. at the
Veterans Memorial Building, 384 Legion St.

Fund-raisers
A fund-raiser for incumbent Councilwoman Toni Iseman will be held
Sunday, (Sept. 29) at the historic Nita Carmen estate. A silent
auction, including garage sale items will be held. Invitations
request donations of $60 per person, $100 for two. Information:

Jim Palmer and John O’Neill will host a fund-raiser at their
Tuscan-style villa from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 6 for City Council candidate
Melissa O’Neal.
