CdM runs to victory

Led by Kevin Artz and Becky Cummins, the boys and girls cross

country teams of Corona del Mar High opened Pacific Coast League dual

competition with wins over host Northwood, at Hicks Canyon Park in

Irvine Thursday.

Artz used a strong kick to finish 16:36, and won the boys race,

two seconds before Northwood’s Michael Vosin. The Turner brothers,

J.C. and Jack, went 3-4, finishing in 17:07 and 17:10, respectively.

CdM senior Blake Dillion came in fifth (17:10). Bo Weidner (sixth,

17:36), Brandon Borcoman (seventh, 17:36) and Danny Quinlan (eighth,

17:36) also finished in the top 10 for CdM, which won, 19-44.

On the girls side, Cummins won the girls race, coming in at 19:12.

Keelan Cuyler also contributed to the Sea Kings’ victorious effort,

finishing third (19:42), while Taryn Kawata finished fourth (19:47).

Ahlia Kattan (20:21), Melissa Swigert (20:32) and Jenny Logan (20:59)

went 6-7-8 to help post the easy win, 21-38.

Both CdM teams will compete in the Stanford Invitational today.
