Quick Chicks stay unbeaten

The Quick Chicks collected their fourth victory of the fall season

last weekend by defeating the Blue Crush, 4-2, in girls’ AYSO Region

117 under-12 division action.

Finding themselves in a 1-0 halftime hole, the Quick Chicks

responded with a pair of third period goals and two more in the

fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Second half goals went to Pouneh Radparvar, Kimberly Kurdziel,

Alex Long and Haley Townsend.

Alison Hensley and Kristy Verone each had an assist.

Karlee Hodgman, Braelyn Snook, Jessica Parker, Kailey Ivers, Lisa

Fleck, Alexandra Lawrence and Niki Cannon anchored the Quick Chicks’

defense.

In other soccer action:

under-10 Division

Bombers 3, Mean Green Fighting Machine 1

Goals by Emily Walling, Rachel Sandoval and Kimberly Choto took

the bite out of the Fighting Mean Green Machine as the Bombers picked

up the weekend win at Gisler School.

The Fighting Mean Green Machine avoided the shutout when Danielle

Duron score in the fourth period.

In Coast Soccer League play:

Lightning 3, BRM International 1

The Lightning battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to post

three second half goals to remain unbeaten in league play.

Janet Peterson led the comeback with two goals, one on a direct

kick, and Nikki Freiborg scored the third goal off an assist by

Hilary Pohlman.

Goalkeeper Gena Johnson recorded nine saves as the Lightning

improved to 4-1 overall.

Boys

under-10 Division

Ice Breakers 1, Green Dragons 0

Defense dominated this Region 117 match played at Perry School.

Gavin Perdomo, Matthew Bordas, Michael Rowe and Trevor Verone were

successful in cutting off the Green Dragons’ offensive efforts and

Nick Frens, Cole Souza and Kane Ordonez secured the mid-field.

Mitchell Phillipy and Verone shared goaltending duties and teamed

on the shutout.

The Ice Breakers broke a scoreless tie in the third period when

forward Matthew Steinhaus knocked down a Dragons goal kick, took the

ball and zig-zagged down field through the defense and put the ball

in the net.

Phillipy, Tommy Vollum and Garrett Hickman contributed to the Ice

Breakers’ offense.
