Pirates sparkle

RIVERSIDE -- Orange Coast College’s Michele Icban and Ava Jones

went 1-2 at the Southern California Community College Preview at

Riverside CC Friday, clocking times of 19:31.40 and 19:46.20 for the 5K distance, and Joel Guzman led the men’s team to the championship

with a 20:34.20, second in the 3.9-mile run to highlight the Pirates’

efforts.

Orange Coast’s women blew out the competition with team total of

33 points.

Natalie St. Andrs (20:27.40), Suzie Dinoso (21:17.50), Roseana

Peters (21:21.80), Natalie Elliott (21:47.70) and Sandra Montoya

(21:56.00) rounded out scoring for Coach John Knox’s crew.

Behind Guzman in the men’s race were fellow Pirates David Ojeda

(20:54.50), Gilbert Salas (21:07.10), Irwin Salas (21:51.90), Vidal

Barragan (22:10.30), Mike Casillas (22:10.90) and Juan Altamirano

(22:16.00).
