Beach.” Arakelian said she supports carefully considered growth, but

office buildings do not provide enough tax revenue to offset their

costs to city infrastructure.

“We need to support small business. Without small business, we

don’t have a real community.” Independent companies are integral to

the future of Newport Beach, Arakelian said, because they can restore

quaintness and a sense of community to places like Balboa Peninsula

and throughout the city.
