Sevens and sixes sparkle on the field

* In Boys under-7 action for AYSO Region 97 teams this past

week:

Cheetahs vs. Tiger Sharks

Conner Tamblyn scored twice for the Cheetahs. Robert Lyons scored

the final goal of the game for the Cheetahs. Kolby Pearson and

Montgomery Faigan displayed strong passing and defensive pressure.

Jake Baxter won several balls in the midfield, along with Nicholas

Shallahammer.

Laser Dragons vs. Black Hawks

The Laser Dragons’ offense was led by Joey Gregory, Brandon Beck,

Peter Kwock and Jack Williamson. Rion Atherton and Ian MacInnis

anchored the tough defense. Garrett Byers, Cole Chapin, Sean Vetrovec

and Grant Moore combined a stingy effort as goalkeepers.

Fireballs vs. Predators

Mario Nark scored a goal for the Fireballs after gathering a nice

pass from Nick Roman. On the defense, Cameron Hall, Nick Huntley,

Marcell DeBarros and Brooks O’Hea, along with goalies Mitch Mendoza

and Kody Wensley displayed teamwork and constant pressure. Marc

Gehlke, Brandt Bucher and Daniel O’Toole created several attacks and

won balls in the midfield.

* In Girls under-7 action:

Pink Flamingos vs. Blue Dolphins

Samantha Singer, Birdie Crane and Kitt Durgan were responsible for

offensive threats as the Flamingos’ forwards. Kailen Locke, Ashley

Ima, Carly Liddicote and Madison Jackson played a strong game as the

Flamingos’ defenders. Dana Krekemeyer stopped the Dolphins from

scoring five times.

* In Boys under-6 action:

Raptors vs. Raptors

Matthew Clarkson blocked two goals, while Cory Kennedy stuffed a

breakaway pass. Peter Bush, Logan Crider, Connor Newcombe, Daniel

Ross, Reed Pfeiffer, Christian Urquiza and Nichoas Perales provided

solid teamwork and strong defense.

Stingers vs. Speedy Snakes

Will Eary, Ryan Young, Chris Vensand and Jack Lynch were key

offensive players for the Stingers. Keith Marshall and Cash Swank

controlled the ball and delivered accurate passes upfield to their

teammates.

Green Hornets vs. Stingers

Matthew Wiesner provided standout defense and great passing, while

Ben Bockrath allowed the Green Hornets to score several times with

his passing. Carter Scott created numerous scoring chances. Sean

Wilson and Brian Shaw ran the field well and displayed intensity.

Briant Putman and Duke Danell-Walker contributed with kicks that

cleared offensive threats.

Thunderbolts vs. Dragons

After an evenly matched game each team was exhausted from the

intense pace. Charlie Padden and Riley Gaddis of the Thunderbolts

made key defensive plays throughout the game.

Firestorm vs. Tornadoes

The Firestorm, coached by Tres Heald, fought hard against the

Tornadoes.

* In Girls under-6 action:

The Green Girlillas

Peyton Espley-Jones and Jaynie Hexberg continued to show

improvement with their defensive and offensive efforts. Their play

was key in sparking several of the Girlillas’ goals. Lila McElroy,

Ashley Ammerman and Haley Heesch displayed speed and kept the

opposing team off balance. Libby Knight continued on her hot scoring

streak, scoring four goals to raise her season total to 15.

Silver Dolphins

Coach Andy Sheppard handed out several awards after his team

appropriately followed his gameplan. Gabby Mangano earned an award

for most goals, while Kate Pipkin, Makenzie Gaddis, Carlee Kapana

were honored with the Golden Boot awards for additional goals scored.

The Happiest Feet award for great footwork and hustle went to Rowan

Rederickson, Alyssa Quintero, Amanda Shepard, Rachel Whitelegge,

Abbey Pickett and Kelley McFetters.
