* JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT EXPANSION:

“I think we need to have another regional airport solution, but I

don’t think El Toro is ever going to happen....I’ve done a lot of

research and San Diego might be looking at Camp Pendleton....There’s

already rail transportation there and the Marines do have a history

of being willing to give up land in some situations. That could be a

solution for us.”

* POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS:

“I have no special-interest ties. I have no hidden agendas. I have

no business that will be benefited from the City Council.

* WATER QUALITY:

Of particular concern to Zippi is that the city’s current demand

on the Orange County Aquifer can’t be sustained indefinitely. “We

need to start looking now at what we can do. It’s not a crisis yet,

but we’re going to have to cut back if it continues.”

* THE MARINAPARK HOTEL PROJECT:

“I think that’s a beautiful project, but it’s not the right

project for that location....When developers feel that a city has a

job already wired to somebody else, they don’t go to the trouble to

make a proposal for it. I’d like to see that project go out to

developers again. I don’t know what I’d put there, but I’d like to

see some clever and artistic and creative developers give us a

presentation.”
