Newport Harbor High’s girls volleyball is in uncharted territory

today.

The Sailors, 11-3 and ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section

for both teams Wednesday.

Twenty-nine hitting errors and 12 hitting errors plagued Harbor.

“That equals loss,” said Newport Harbor Coach Dan Glenn about the

hitting errors and the missed serves.

Newport cut the lead to 12-11 in the fifth game before Aliso

pulled away.

“They out-served us, out-dug us and outplayed us,” Glenn said.

“Now we put ourselves in a hole if we want to win league.”

Alyson Jennings, Lauren Miller and Kristin McClune all had 11

kills to lead Newport and Kellie King tallied 51 assists. Alexis

Kearns led the team in service aces.

Newport next plays away at Irvine Friday in a league match.
