Pegasus starts with wins
The Pegasus School of Huntington Beach opened its 2002 flag
football season with two victories, beating Oakridge Private School,
27-6, and Orangewood Academy, 30-7.
Linebacker Nick Tarnofsky returned an interception 60 yards for a
touchdown, quarterback Braden Ross ran for one score and passed for
another, running back Nick Frazier scored on a first quarter
touchdown run, and Josh Kim also scored in the 26-7 road victory over
Oakridge Private School in Orange.
In the 30-7 rout of host Orangewood Academy in Garden Grove,
Frazier rushed for a pair of touchdowns and sacked the Orangewood
quarterback in the end zone for a safety, Tarnofsky came up with
another interception return for a touchdown, this one covering 20
yards, and Ross and tight end Don Ayres teamed on a first quarter
pass play for a touchdown.
Surf City Volleyball tryout dates set
The Surf City Volleyball Club will be holding tryouts for new
players every Sunday this month at the Golden West College gymnasium.
The club team is comprised of boys’ junior volleyball players.
Future tryout dates include Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
Tryout times for the following grade levels have been set: grades
6-8, 3 to 5 p.m.; grades 9-10, 5 to 7 p.m.; grades 11-12, 7 to 9 p.m.
