Ibrahim Khalil came up with five goals to lead a potent Arsenal

attack last weekend as the Region 117 squad routed Region 56, 11-0,

in an AYSO under-14 boys’ match.

Jimmy Moreno and Greg Howland each netted two goals and Val

Bertignoli and Drew Richardson each scored once to complete the

scoring.

Eric Dyson and Kyle Durkee each recorded an assist and John Spirk

and Carlos Puerto controlled the mid-field.

The Arsenal kept Region 56 off the scoreboard due to the defensive

play of Brian Tran, Connor Noyes, James Hensley and Mitchell Weeks in

the backfield.

In other AYSO action:

Under-12 Division

El Fuego 3, Bruisers 1

Jimmy Miller tallied two goals -- scoring both in the first period

of play, and Matthew Jurado scored off a Mitchell Solorio feed in the

final period to lift El Fuego.

Olmo Flores, Casey Lysdale, Colin Carroll and Luke Bonham also

assisted on offense.

El Fuego’s defensive attack was power by Kevin Stickler, Pat

Skinner, David Sudolsy, Travis Desa and Jake Bryant.

Peter Skinner, Miller and Carroll shared goaltending duties to

limit the Bruisers to a single goal.

GIRLS’

Region 117 Under-12 Division

Lightning Bolts 2, Freedom Fighters 1

Erika Longoria’s driving shot into the net in the fourth quarter

provided the Lightning Bolts with the winning goal.

Kayci Rezac’s quick score in opening period had given the Freedom

Fighters a 1-0 lead, but goalies Francine Sandoval and Ashley

Ashurst, backed by the defense of Mahrria Rivera, Stephanie Brown,

Kelsey Stewart, Melody Sainz and Jessica Ross, kept the Freedom

Fighter scoreless the rest of the game.

Camille Canales, Miranda Sosa, Wendy Edman, Makayla Alexander and

Stephanie Schroeder keyed the Lightning Bolts offense.

Quick Chicks 4, Criminals 2

Jessica Parker, Kristy Verone and Braelyn Snook each scored a goal

and Alison Hensley scored on a penalty kick as the Quick Chicks ran

their unbeaten streak to five games this season.

Pouneh Radparvar, Kimberly Kurdziel and Hayley Townsend each had

an assist for the Quick Chicks, and Lisa Flec, Kailey Ivers,

Alexandra Lawrence and Niki Cannon paced the defense.
