Nearly seven months after it was scheduled for completion and more

than a year after it began, the renovations at Bolsa Chica State

Beach are done.

“It’s nice to be finally done,” said surfer Fred Jacobson. “The

new facilities are nice and clean, what’s there not to like?”

Showers and bathrooms are all open to the public and all but two

fences have come down. Fences remain around the restroom stations

that also contain concession stands as there are not yet tenants to

fill them.

Only the new lifeguard headquarters is in need of a few finishing

touches, said Mark Weeger, of Weeger Bros. Inc.

The construction company and state set aside differences they have

over delays and payment to get the project completed, Weeger said.

With the facilities ready and open to the public, talks will

resume, he said.
