McCarthy sponsors education program

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. in Newport Beach sponsored

fifth-graders from John Muir Elementary School in Long Beach to

embark on the cruise ship R/V Sea Explorer at the Ocean Institute in

Dana Point on Oct. 4.

The company partnered with the ocean institute to underwrite

educational programs for children giving them an opportunity to

examine coastal living systems like kelp forests, offshore reefs and

marine habitats through an offshore expedition.

Over the past 15 years, McCarthy has established more than 300

school projects nationwide and is currently working with the

Newport-Mesa Unified School District and other school districts to

provide construction services for elementary and secondary education

facilities across the country.

Restaurants launch catering company

Sister restaurants, Bayside in Newport Beach and Bistango in

Irvine, recently launched an offshoot business, Bistango/Bayside

Catering Company.

After receiving numerous inquiries from customers regarding

catering services, the two restaurants decided to combine forces and

create an extensive catering menu appropriate for any occasion.

Some of the company’s most popular selections are spicy tartar in

cucumber cups, filet mignon flambe and chocolate souffle cake. But

food is not all the new catering company offers.

The catering capabilities of the new company will include complete

party planning from themes and decorations to picking a band or

providing entertainment.
