* GREENLIGHT:
“I think it’s important to differentiate between the Greenlight
movement and the Greenlight leadership. I was part of the Greenlight
movement, I support it. It won. But now I think the current
Greenlight leadership is trying to gain control of the council based
on some new issues that I don’t think are really there.”
* THE GENERAL PLAN UPDATE:
“I’m excited about it. I have bent over backward to help make sure
it’s fair and community driven. And I’m not afraid of the outcome. If
it reflects an anti-growth majority, then that’s the majority.”
* WATER QUALITY:
“Water quality in this city is being well attended to. We’re
making great improvements. The Back Bay is a good example. We’re
serious about improving water quality and our policy decisions
reflect that. And if I were in the business interests’ back pocket, I
certainly wouldn’t have supported the lengths we go to, to improve
water quality.”
* THE JOHN WAYNE SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT:
“I think we’ve built up countywide support. I think we’re doing
what needs to be done to make our voice heard in Washington and we’re
very close to getting the federal court’s blessing ....Once that’s in
place, we need to start looking for a long-term solution. I think it
does need to be a regional solution and that might include El Toro.”
* IMPORTANT INFLUENCE IN LIFE:
“My involvement in the scouts has played a big role in my life.
When I was a kid, my scout master, Pop Clarke, had an important
influence.”
