Gaddy-Schmidt

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Griffen of Balboa Island announce the

engagement of their daughter, Shannon Gaddy of Newport Beach, to Todd

Schmidt of Fallbrook.

The bride-elect graduated from Corona del Mar High School and Cal

State Long Beach.

The future groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt of Fallbrook,

graduated from Fallbrook High School and the University of San Diego.

A Nov. 9 wedding is planned at Christ the King Lutheran Church in

Fallbrook.

Emily and Richard E. Barrett

Emily and Richard E. Barrett celebrated their 60th wedding

anniversary on Sept. 21.

Richard, a retired publisher, has enjoyed such hobbies as skiing

and golf, and for the last 30 years has enjoyed sport fishing.

Emily, an active housewife, works with many Newport Beach charity

groups and enjoys swimming and playing bridge.

The couple has had three children, Linda Barrett Pimm of Santa

Barbara, Richard Wilbur Barrett of Newport Beach and the late

Lawrence Collins Barrett. They also have four grandchildren, Devin

Dierenfield of Santa Barbara, Darcie Dierenfield McKnight of Santa

Barbara, Amy Barrett Smith of Laguna Niguel and Todd Collins Barrett

of Laguna Hills.

The couple celebrated their anniversary with a Hawaiian luau at

the Santa Ana Country Club. The celebration included an outdoor pig

roast barbecue, live Hawaiian music, orchid leis for all the ladies

and a gathering of the couple’s family and close friends.
